{"id":871,"date":"2025-09-14T18:11:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-14T15:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shareai.now\/?post_type=documentation&#038;p=871"},"modified":"2025-09-14T18:11:56","modified_gmt":"2025-09-14T15:11:56","slug":"priority-over-my-device","status":"publish","type":"documentation","link":"https:\/\/shareai.now\/docs\/about-shareai\/prosumer\/priority-over-my-device\/","title":{"rendered":"Priority over my Device"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>&#8220;Priority over my Device&#8221;<\/strong> setting allows you to control how ShareAI routes inference requests for each API key \u2014 choosing between prioritizing <strong>your own devices<\/strong> or using the <strong>community network<\/strong> first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can manage this setting per API key in your ShareAI Console:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/console.shareai.now\/app\/api-key\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">API Key Console<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What This Setting Controls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This toggle determines <strong>which group of devices will be queried first<\/strong> when executing a request that uses a specific model available both on your devices and in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When Turned Off (Default)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ShareAI will prioritize community devices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The system will attempt to allocate your request to a device in the ShareAI community that is sharing the requested model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If no community device is available for that model, ShareAI will then try to use one of your own connected devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This option is recommended if you want to offload processing to other devices in the network and minimize resource usage on your own machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When Turned On<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ShareAI will prioritize your own connected devices.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The system will first check if any of your devices (currently online and sharing the queried model) can process the request.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If none of your devices are eligible, ShareAI will fall back to using a community device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This option is recommended when you prefer requests to stay local when possible, such as for performance, consistency, or privacy reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where to Find the Setting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This toggle is available for each API key in the <a href=\"https:\/\/console.shareai.now\/app\/api-key\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">API Key Dashboard<\/a>.
