The right Nevermined alternatives depend on who buys what. Skyfire is relevant to agent identity, access and checkout. x402 addresses paid requests; Paid.ai addresses agent monetization and billing; Credyt addresses prepaid consumption. ShareAI concerns eligible application inference paid through ShareAI with an approved app surcharge. These choices move different commercial responsibilities, even when their demonstrations all involve an AI agent.
Reviewed 23 October 2026. ShareAI publishes this comparison and operates one of the programs discussed. Product descriptions use official sources and actual captures. The code is an executed offline arithmetic example with synthetic records. No live agent purchase, service quality benchmark, customer payment or payout is claimed.
Nevermined currently combines delegated spending, a paid-services catalog and merchant payment flows. Its platform offer also distinguishes a live subscription-credit resale path from a per-call margin design that is not live yet. That distinction matters more than a broad claim that one platform supports monetization and another does not. Start with the actual buyer, service and payment path your application needs.
What Nevermined currently offers
The Nevermined website describes agents spending under a mandate set by a person or platform. The mandate limits the amount, expiry and number of purchases; the agent cannot simply increase its own authority. Reasons to keep it: this is relevant when an agent needs to purchase external tools or services within delegated limits, rather than merely call a model that the application already funds.
The merchant page describes listing services and getting paid per call or by card. It documents request-payment paths using x402 or MPP, and a card path connected to a merchant’s own Stripe account. Cards and crypto are described as available; bank rails are marked as coming. Keep merchant eligibility, supported rails and the specific integration separate from a general promise to pay any website.
The platform catalog page makes a particularly useful availability distinction. Reselling subscription credits at a price the platform sets is live. The service’s listed price plus Nevermined’s fee plus a platform’s per-call margin is explicitly in design. Per-user limits on resold credits are also described as coming. Do not treat those three statements as interchangeable capabilities.
This does not mean Nevermined has no configurable pricing or markup. Its pricing page allows merchant charging models such as per call, per token, per outcome and cost plus margin. The unfinished item is the particular catalog-platform pass-through arrangement. Compare the exact offer your team would buy, and record whether its required controls are generally available, arranged commercially or still planned.
Separate an agent purchase from the app’s own inference charge
Consider a hypothetical research assistant sold by an existing software company. A customer asks for a market report. The assistant calls a model, buys a company-data lookup and runs a paid search. The customer’s permission to buy external services is one agreement. Charging that customer for the app’s routed model inference is another. A completed report may also have its own product price, acceptance rule and support obligation.
Give each part an identity. Preserve the customer and tenant, logical report, model attempts, service purchase and resulting financial record. A network retry must not silently become another authorized purchase. A paid lookup that returns unusable data also needs an explicit correction or support policy. Payment success alone does not prove that the report is accurate or that the customer accepted its business value.
Mandates are especially important when the agent selects services dynamically. Decide who sets and revokes authority, which services or counterparties it covers, and how expiration affects work already in progress. A budget displayed in the user interface should not be treated as the authoritative enforcement result. Qualify the chosen platform’s actual response to a revoked, expired or exhausted mandate before relying on it in your product.
Shortlist alternatives by the transaction you need
| Option | Relevant responsibility | Boundary to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Skyfire | Agent identity, access and checkout credentials | Accepted sites, mandates and the actual supported payment journey |
| x402 with a selected implementation | Payment for an API or digital resource in the request flow | Facilitator, network, wallet and verification/settlement behavior |
| Paid.ai | Agent signals, commercial pricing, billing and value traceability | The app’s billable unit, collection arrangement and correction policy |
| Credyt | Prepaid wallet-based usage and customer top-ups | Consumption authorization versus invoicing and supplier payment |
| ShareAI Builder Program | Eligible inference paid through ShareAI with an app surcharge | Approved app/routing and account-specific attribution and settlement |
A product may retain Nevermined for paid tools while changing another part of its inference or billing path. Do not assume that such an architecture has a native connector or synchronized customer balances. Establish actual integration support, customer identity and which system owns each charge. The customer should be able to distinguish a purchased external service from model inference and from your separate software subscription.
Map a delegated purchase from permission to reconciliation
| Stage | Preserve | Question to rehearse |
|---|---|---|
| Permission | Authorized principal, mandate scope and expiry | Can this agent buy this service for this customer? |
| Selection and price | Service identity, quoted unit and current terms | What exactly will the customer or platform pay for? |
| Payment and execution | Purchase identity, verification/settlement and service result | What happens after a timeout or an uncertain response? |
| Customer charge | The correct product, service or inference charge | Which system collects this amount, and from whom? |
| Correction and reconciliation | Original purchase, adjustment and final records | Can support explain the result without losing the history? |
Test an uncertain purchase rather than only an ordinary success. The payment system may have accepted a request even if the application lost its response. Reconcile the original purchase before issuing another one. Preserve the selected platform’s identifiers and documented retry mechanism. An app-generated random key has no deduplication effect at a vendor unless the actual integration accepts and enforces it.
Skyfire: compare identity, access and checkout
The Skyfire website presents an Agent Trust Stack covering Know Your Agent identity, an Agentic Wallet and purchasing on behalf of users. It describes tokenized card transactions, stablecoins and collecting user mandates. Pros: it is relevant when an agent must identify itself, reach an accepted merchant and complete a supported checkout, beyond paying a listed API resource.
Tradeoffs: qualify the sites, merchant paths, identity requirements and payment arrangements your agent actually needs. Homepage claims about coverage or avoiding access failures are not a guarantee for every destination. Do not infer that a successful identity token, an authorized mandate and a completed purchase are the same event. Your product still needs to preserve each result and explain a failed or disputed transaction.
x402: compare the paid-request protocol and implementation
The official Coinbase x402 overview describes a buyer seeing a resource price, paying and receiving access within the request flow. Its selected CDP implementation uses a facilitator to verify and settle payments. Pros: evaluate this path when the product needs to sell or buy a paid API resource and wants to choose the surrounding wallet and service architecture.
Tradeoffs: x402 is a protocol, not an equivalent subscription, mandate-management and Builder earnings program. Select the actual facilitator, networks, assets and account arrangement; check current requirements and pricing there. Resource access still needs to be tied to a verified payment result. Do not assume a protocol response establishes tax treatment, customer support responsibilities or cash settlement to your application’s owner.
Paid.ai: compare selling the agent’s work
Paid’s metering, pricing and billing pages describe signals, commercial rules, credits, invoices, collection and financial-stack handoff. Pros: it is relevant when your software company sells the agent’s work and needs to connect delivered units with customer charges. That is a different buyer problem from giving the agent purchasing authority.
Tradeoffs: define the billable outcome, its authorized evidence and correction policy in the product agreement. A trace back to an application signal does not independently prove the report was useful or correct. Verify which paid-tool purchases, inference costs and product charges the selected architecture records. Keeping this evidence component may be useful even when a separate service handles the agent’s external purchases.
Credyt: compare funding and consuming a prepaid balance
The Credyt FAQ and wallet guide describe prepaid usage billing, asset-specific wallet accounts and Stripe-powered top-ups. Pros: compare it when customer funding and authorizing consumption against a balance are the main requirement. A funded customer account and a supplier payment mandate should still have distinct purposes and identities.
Tradeoffs: the FAQ distinguishes wallet receipts from full invoice-management workflows. A prepaid usage wallet is not automatically a marketplace of services or an arbitrary merchant checkout mechanism. Qualify the actual purchase, collection and accounting boundaries you need. Explain how a failed report, unused balance or corrected resource event affects the customer without treating a debit as proof that every downstream obligation was settled.
ShareAI: compare eligible customer-paid model inference
The ShareAI Builder program applies to an application that already exists with its own users. Eligible AI traffic routes through ShareAI, a permitted application surcharge or margin can be configured, and the end customer pays ShareAI for that inference. App-attributed earnings follow the program. Pros: it connects routing, payment and attribution for this defined commercial boundary.
Tradeoffs: account/application approval, eligible traffic, actual model access and settlement terms apply. Validated company Builders have a 45-day review period before payout. Individuals currently accumulate inference value to use within ShareAI, rather than cash-out or account transfers. The app remains built, hosted, distributed and maintained elsewhere, with its other commercial and product responsibilities.
An inference surcharge does not give an agent universal authority to buy tools or prove native support for x402 or MPP. Keep those payment and integration decisions explicit. Custom endpoint or infrastructure participation belongs to the applicable Provider or Prosumer onboarding, separate from Builder app attribution. Configurable margins are not an exclusive ShareAI feature; compare the actual live offer and eligibility on each platform.
Compare current fees without adding unrelated payment lanes
The current Nevermined pricing page separates account plans, catalog access and transaction fees. It lists merchant fees of 1% on stablecoin rails and 2% on card rails, with processing passed through at cost. Managed access to external services has a separate 2% buyer fee; purchases from Nevermined merchants have no buyer-side fee. These are different flows, not charges to add indiscriminately to every transaction.
The live catalog subscription is listed at 20 USD a month for 20,000 credits, with 10 USD packs available. Those credits and the unfinished catalog-platform per-call margin design are different offers. Confirm current terms and the exact transaction path before projecting revenue. Do not turn a vendor’s illustrative purchase, catalog count or roadmap arrangement into evidence of your application’s availability or profitability.
For arithmetic only, 1000 USD of inference plus a hypothetical 15% surcharge yields 150 USD gross surcharge and 1150 USD total. These synthetic amounts are not Nevermined or ShareAI fees, a tax result or received earnings. Service purchases, processing, adjustments and operating costs affect the actual economics. Keep gross app surcharge, customer collection and the amount available for settlement separately identifiable.
Use an offline ledger to check arithmetic, not payment authority
This executed synthetic fixture deduplicates identical usage, rejects a conflicting duplicate and retains an explicit adjustment. It computes an illustrative surcharge with integer USD cents. It does not authorize an agent, sign a payment, call a merchant, validate a service result or create a customer charge. Those steps require the actual selected integration and commercial agreement.

totalUSD: usd(base + surcharge), paidReceiptVerified: false}));The observed output is 1000 USD illustrative inference, 150 USD gross surcharge and 1150 USD total, with no verified paid receipt. Keep this arithmetic result separate from the purchase lifecycle. A production agent must preserve permission, price, payment, execution and correction evidence; a correct sum alone cannot establish any of those events.
Migrate one complete purchasing journey first
- Inventory current mandates, catalog services, customer accounts and merchant arrangements.
- Choose one research task and identify model inference separately from paid external tools.
- Rehearse exhausted and revoked mandates, duplicate requests, timeouts and failed service results.
- Reconcile original purchases before retrying or correcting a customer charge.
- Keep shadow arithmetic separate from live collection and preserve a rollback path.
- Verify the current availability of every required control rather than relying on roadmap wording.
Keep Nevermined when its catalog and delegated payments fit the actual purchase journey. Compare Skyfire for the relevant identity/checkout requirement, a selected x402 implementation for paid requests, Paid.ai for agent commercial units, Credyt for prepaid consumption and ShareAI for eligible customer-paid inference. Move the responsibility that needs to change without losing useful existing controls or confusing the customer’s different charges.
Frequently asked questions
Which Nevermined alternatives should an AI app compare?
Skyfire is relevant to agent identity and checkout, x402 to paid requests, Paid.ai to agent pricing and billing, and Credyt to prepaid usage. ShareAI concerns eligible application inference paid through ShareAI with an approved surcharge. Select by the actual transaction and responsibility.
Does Nevermined support configurable pricing or margins?
Yes, its pricing page describes merchant charging models including cost plus margin. Its platform catalog also supports live subscription-credit resale at a price you set. The specific catalog pass-through path with a per-call platform margin is separately marked in design, not live.
Are all advertised Nevermined payment rails live?
The reviewed site describes cards and crypto as available, while bank rails are coming. General card payment at arbitrary web merchants is also distinct from the supported merchant flows. Verify the precise counterparty, rail and integration your product needs.
Is x402 a complete replacement for Nevermined?
x402 is a paid-resource protocol. A chosen implementation supplies surrounding wallet, facilitator, verification and settlement behavior. Mandates, catalog discovery, accounts, customer support and other commercial requirements need their own explicit assessment.
Does a successful agent payment prove the service result was useful?
No. Payment, service delivery and customer acceptance are separate records. Define the service promise and correction policy, then preserve the evidence needed to investigate an unusable result, uncertain response or disputed charge.
Does ShareAI replace delegated purchasing or every app charge?
The Builder program concerns eligible routed inference, end-customer payment to ShareAI and approved app attribution. It is not a universal agent wallet, arbitrary merchant checkout or a replacement claim for every product subscription and external service purchase.
How do ShareAI company and individual Builder settlements differ?
Validated company Builders have a 45-day review before payout. Individuals currently accumulate inference value for use within ShareAI, rather than cash-out or account transfers. Eligible usage and the applicable account/program terms determine the actual result.
Does the example execute an agent purchase?
No. It checks synthetic ledger arithmetic, duplicate handling and an explicit adjustment offline. It does not establish a mandate, verify a live payment, purchase a service or prove that a customer accepted an agent’s result.
Choose the buyer, service and payment path first
Use the Builder application flow to evaluate eligible customer-paid inference and an application surcharge. Keep external service purchases and your product’s own promises explicit. The Paid.ai alternatives comparison examines the adjacent decision about accepted work and billing. Start with a complete task whose authority, resource use and charges your support team can explain.
