Choose models and system instructions

Choose a model for the task you want to perform. An entry in the model catalog does not mean it is available to every workspace at every moment.

Select a model#

1. Open the model selector at the top of Playground.
2. Use the available search and filters to find a model.
3. Read its identifier and availability before selecting it.
4. If capacity has changed, refresh model availability and choose another eligible model.

Set the behavior#

Open System instructions and describe how you want the assistant to respond: for example, “Answer briefly and ask when a required detail is missing.” Keep instructions separate from the message you want answered. Instructions influence the response; they do not grant access to a restricted model.

Compare fairly#

Use a new chat and the same prompt when comparing models. An existing conversation may include earlier context that changes the result. Also compare the applicable provider, model and usage cost rather than judging by the model name alone.

Provider-specific priority#

If your account exposes Priority over my Device, its routing behavior is described under Providers → Prosumer. It is a provider workflow and does not replace model access permissions.
